Psychiatric treatment for individuals with developmental disabilities can often seem complicated and confusing. In this presentation, written by Dr. Steven Kouris, The principles and guidelines that go into psychiatric treatment for people with disabilities is discussed. Designed for QMRP’s, Behavior Specialists, parents of children with developmental disabilities, and anyone interested in learning more about the proper use, and misuse of psychotropic medications in developmental disabilities, this presentation will provide an overview of what these medications can, and cannot help with, what alternatives are available and when to use them, and which guidelines a physician should be using to make decisions about medication treatment.
